What your bathroom costs in Kildare
Two taps: the kind of job, and whether anything moves. The answer is the range published for Kildare.
Published Kildare range for this job
€5,000 to €30,000+
Published figures for this job from firms and guides covering Kildare, read 3 November 2026. plumbersinireland.ie: €5,000 to €10,000 (wet room); Tile Merchant: €16,000 to €30,000+ (luxury wet room, 6 to 10 m²). None of them says whether VAT is included.
- Moving the toilet, shower or basin adds €1,200 to €2,500 in plumbing alone (Tile Merchant).
- Tiling labour runs €60 to €90 a m², on top of the tiles (Tile Merchant).
- Electrics and ventilation add €400 to €800 on a standard job (Tile Merchant), by a Registered Electrical Contractor (CRU).
How this is worked out
The range runs from the lowest to the highest figure published for that kind of job by firms and price guides covering Kildare: Aidan Kelly Construction, QuoteHub.ie's and plumbersinireland.ie's Kildare pages, and Tile Merchant's Irish ranges. A single figure is a real job one firm priced. "+" means a source gives no top figure. Moving things adds Tile Merchant's €1,200 to €2,500 for the plumbing. None of them says whether VAT is in. The sum is ours. Prices read on 3 November 2026. It's an estimate, never a quote.
How it works
A floor that is the shower tray
- The fall: the floor slopes gently to the drain, so water stays in the shower area.
- Tanking: a waterproof membrane over the whole floor and up the walls, before any tile.
- The drain: a linear channel or a square gully, set lower than the floor round it.
- The floor: upstairs in most Kildare estate houses it's timber joists, which are cut down or overlaid to make the fall. On a ground-floor slab, the screed is laid to the fall.
